Module development for PITAD’s training courses launched
In an effort to modernize and upgrade the Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development’s (PITAD) Specialized Training Programme (STP), a nine month programme for newly inducted Commerce and Trade Group officers of the Civil Service of Pakistan, and other training courses, relevant course information was shared with the Switzerland based World Training Institute (WTI).
After a thorough review of the STP course outline, system of examination and evaluation, objectives of the course, delivery mechanism, training materials, etc., and the results obtained from a survey of relevant public and private sector stakeholders conducted earlier this year, WTI and PITAD agreed on seven modules to be developed in 2011 on different trade policy areas.
Accordingly, seven Master Trainees have been selected from PITAD, the Institute of Business Administration the Lahore University of Management Science and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, to work jointly with the Mentors provided by WTI to develop these modules. The online interaction between the Mentors and Master Trainees have been initiated for this purpose while the Master Trainees would benefit from a face to face interaction with their mentors in July 2011 in Bern, to fill the gaps in the proposed modules and to discuss pedagogical methods for training.
Progress in the abovementioned activities is part of partnership arrangements under the auspices of ITC for the institutional capacity building of PITAD, agreed upon in a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutes signed on 18 February, 2011.
