European Union funded Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA II) being implemented by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is conducting the “Certified Trainings of Consultants and Responsible Personnel of Enterprises of Selected Sectors” in collaboration with Pakistan Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (PCSIR) and Bureau Veritas. The programme is designed to improve the export performance of selected sectors from Agro and Industrial areas and their integration into the global trade and economy. A series of training courses on market driven certifications have been launched with the first successful completion of Lead Auditor course on FSSC 22000 from 11-15 January 2016 in Lahore.
In the wake of GSP plus status to Pakistan by EU, the compliance issues have been a major barrier curtailing Pakistan’s export oriented sectors to exploit the full potential of this scheme. The certification courses being offered by TRTA-II are meant to abridge the existing gap of demand and supply of the services to the enterprises of the selected sectors in enhancing their compliance portfolio. Other courses in this series are Social Accountability (SA-8000) awareness and lead auditor, Traceability, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), British Retail Consortium (BRC) awareness and lead auditor, Global G.A.P., ISO 13485 (QMS medical devices) and SEDEX.
Director P&D PCSIR Dr. Irfan Ahmed Rabbani and UNIDO’s Programme Officer Mr. Badar ul Islam distributed the certificates of attendance among the participants for the training course on FSSC 22000 LA. Mr. Tarq Qamar has been the lead trainer for this course from Bureau Veritas. All the participants have had the exam in order to get internationally recognized certifications from IRCA and will play a vital role in overcoming the barrier to compliance on part of the enterprises.
