TRTAII Supports the launch of the Postgraduate Diploma in Food Safety and Controls in Peshawar & initiates activities to strengthen SPS/Food Safety measures in KPK

After the successful launch of the Royal Environmental Health Institute, Scotland (REHIS) accredited Postgraduate Diploma Course (PGDC) in Food Safety and Controls at three universities in Pakistan (Department of Food Science and Technology, University of Karachi – UoK, National Institute of Food Science and Technology, University of Agricultural Faisalabad – UAF, and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences – UVAS, Lahore), TRTA received a request from the University of Agricultural Peshawar (UAP) to help launch a similar programme in KPK.

In order to ascertain the availability of facilities and the technical faculty for the launch of PGDC, Dr Ian Goulding, TRTA II International Expert (IE) in Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) management and National Experts held detailed consultative meetings with the Dean of the Faculty of Nutrition Sciences and the Chairman and the specialist faculty of the and Department of Food Science of Technology at UAP. Dr Ian Goulding was greatly impressed with the infrastructure and the capabilities of the faculty members of the department of Food Science and Technology. TRTA and UAP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to help the University develop this accredited course.
