Pakistani Kinnow and Mango in Berlin – Fruit Logistica 2014

DSC03267Development of the Code of Practices (COP) that initially focused on organizing Farm Cluster Groups for the purpose of establishing “Good Farm Practices” and the development of the COP Manual, has now proceeded further to build linkages between the producers of the fresh horticulture products and the high end markets. This latter stage of the project activity is expected to achieve one of the TRTA II Program’s objectives of bolstering the supply chain mechanism.

The strategic focus in building market linkages is on enabling the producers of the fresh horticulture produce to attain experience of the high end markets with full revelation of market promotion and learning the skills of negotiations with potential buyers that can transpire into long term business transactions.

The annual Fruit Logistica in Berlin is the ideal place to see and be seen, by the people who are related to the business of fresh fruit and vegetables. The active participation in the Fair would boost the confidence of these producers towards their own capacity to deliver and demonstrate to buyers in the high end markets the quality and safety requirements that entail.

1The producers of fresh Kinnow and Mango will be involved in this Fair participation. The Kinnow producers will have the advantage of showing off their product samples to the visitors in the booth setup by TDAP and TRTA II, while the Mango producers will ride on the same wave to enlighten the visitors with their promotional preparations.

At fruit logistica Pakistani producers/exporters will be supported by the experts of CBI of The Netherlands, TDAP and the EU funded TRTA II programme implemented by UNIDO in collaboration with TDAP and CBI, for the effective promotion of their products. These experts will also facilitate the B2B meetings.

The activities in the Fair participation include pre-Fair coaching, daily debriefings at the end of each day and a final analysis of how further actions should be taken to finalize the business deals. Since Trial shipments are expected, the participants are likely to demonstrate their capabilities in these trail deliveries.
